AFT-Kansas President Calls on Kobach for Threatening to Shoot Peaceful Activisits

Topeka,KS- Whether it is the realization that a country made great by immigrants has a moral obligation to live up to our American values of democracy and opportunity, or because it’s good economic policy, or because it’s just the right thing to do, reforming our immigration system now just makes sense.

What doesn’t make sense is when Secretary of State Kris Kobach threatens to shoot peaceful children and their families. As the Supreme Court ruling just issued yesterday shows, Kris Kobach is out of touch with working people in Kansas, the U.S. and the majority of humanity. Violence and threats of violence have no place in a civilized, compassionate society. Instead of engaging in threats and rhetoric, we need to move forward to fix the broken immigration system in our country.
