KanVote Brings in New Year with Potluck

WICHITA, KS - Sunflower’s KanVote campaign kicked off it’s first meeting of the year with a potluck and outlined strategies for reclaiming voter rights in the coming legislative session.   More than 30 people attended, receiving updates on the latest developments in Topeka, and preparing personal testimonies for the South Central Kansas Legislative Forum held on 1/8.

Our meeting drew stories Sunflower members and first time participants. We heard from suspended voters and concerned citizens, first time voters and community elders, lifelong Kansans and those new to our state. Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau and Representative Gail Finney were also present for the meeting and made commitments to moving legislation that would restore voter rights in Kansas.

With more than 20,000 Kansans’ voter rights suspended, the KanVote campaign is calling on people from across the state to contact their legislators and ask that they end the voter restrictions outlined by the safe act.
